End of Days

So the pooter is almost there. I ended up with a replacement board, that wouldn#t even POST, let alone boot. So I’ve gone Lo Fi and hoiked a P35C-DS3R. All my original components fit in it. And while it’s not quite the Kray-computer I was hoping to have… at least this one works. I have a different PSU in it though. Curious thing about it is that it displays the number of Watts currnly being consumed by the beast (nicknamed “Samael”). At the moment 104W. When I’m playing TF2 I can expect it to top out at 142W. A good 800W shy of the PSU capacity and 300W shy of how much I thought it would guzzle. I guess the LCD monitor adds a further 50W on to that as a total consuption figure, bit wierd though, don’t you think. The industry says stuff like ”If you want an SLI system expect to push your PSU beyond the 500W barrier.” Bah Humbug… it won’t even approach that. My gfx card is a beast of a 8800 GTS, and it’s trotting along most of the time below the 120W mark. The only remaining issue with my pooter as it stands is the RAM. One of the memory sticks turned out to be faulty, and was causing the mobos it was plugged in to, to die on POST. Having sent Dabs back the single faulty stick, they now want the one that works before they’ll issue me with 2 new sticks… so I’ve glugged a stick from S’s PC in the meantime. We’re both now running on 1Gb in a single module. ;(

Enjoyed playing Portal. Clever game… they should make it multiplayer. Bit short in my opinion. Sequel Valve? Please!

At the mo I’m playing a lot of TF2. Really classy graphics and fun interface. My favorite character is er… the pyro… no the engineer… er maybe the spy (now I understand how to play him!). Hey look all the characters are fun. Played Dustbowl the other day where the entire team were scouts. Te He He. Very quick game! If you wanna check me out on there go find “belialcouk”.

I’ve also tied up all the cables and wires around both desktops now. Looks so much better. Particularly S’s with her 6 monitors now. Gotta get me some of that looping tape for the cables to really tidy things up.

Got a huge ebay bulk load to dump tomorrow. Amazon marketplace is working really well for the books and DVDs, but the otherstuff will have to go through ebay. Go check it out if you like. I’ll be putting up some of my Living Dead Dolls and some coats and alike.

Oh and check out a new PodCast I’m in… http://www.patternsofphysicaltransformation.com/?p=35

Crimbo is almost upon us. Yesterday I took the family out to Bury St Edmunds for the Christmas Fayre. Was good, but I think the weather dampend our spirits a little. Dad tried to get us to use the Bus there and back. Bloody unreliable. We got there 15 mins early, and the damn thing still hadn’t arrived some 20mins after the due time. We decided to walk in, and get a cab back. Cold weather is not fun for lil’uns.

Trading is ok. I’ve been playing the gap when ever I can, and othertimes I’ve been playing punts based on illicitations made by S. Not making my millions yet, but we shouldn’t be too far off… should we dear?

I’m rereading The Structure of Magic: Vol 1 at the moment. It all seems a little bit simple right now. I remember broaching the book some 2 years ago, and it was like chinese; now it’s like “Jack and Jill”. I’m getting more out of it also by doing the exersices much more thoroughly, and testing out some of the principles.

Alice wants a Rabbit… errr.. two rabbits for her birthday. She says she’ll be happy if it’s the only thing she gets. I’m still not convinced. I swear I’ll end up cleaning out rabbit poo, and taking it down the vets when it’s eyes go wonkey. I think we have enough on our plate at the moment, in fact I KNOW we have enough on our plate at the moment. We do not need a couple of Leporidae banging around the place, cluttering it up even more than it is right now. Bu then when did my opinon ever count in that department…!

Anyway, I trust you’ll all enjoy the season of madness, and indluge in all those wicked things you know you ought not to. See you all the other side…
